Our mission is to encourage and support high school seniors with their college education. The foundation strives to provide a one time financial award to high school graduates with plans to attend a college, university, or vocational school. Our goal for this scholastic year is to reward up to 25 seniors with this scholarship. An international component was added to the Foundation, in which we provided funding to assist 9 primary age students in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. This funding will assist in attempting to break the cycle of poverty which continues to afflict the Haitian population and future generations. We believe supporting a child educationally will empower them to succeed.
Recipients are chosen based on four major criteria: financial need, academic achievement, personal statement and community commitment/involvement. Additionally, to be eligible for consideration, applicants must provide evidence of acceptance in a post-high school educational institution or program.
The AJM scholarship Foundation believes the country can prosper when students are afforded an opportunity to access higher education. The foundation works to address socio-economic barriers that keep many Haitian-Americans from earning a college degree. The Foundation offers a broad range of outreach and educational assistance to help these recipients succeed and navigate through their college journey.
